Nobody sees yourPhotosbut you.
Encrypted on your iPhone. No account, no tracking — and everything comes back out whenever you want it.
A latent image is the one already on the film, before anyone develops it. Present, and not yet visible.
What Latent actually does
No feature here is a promise about the future. Each one is a decision already made.
Encryption, not a hidden folder
AES-256-GCM, one key per file, each wrapped by your vault key and bound to the Secure Enclave. Not a folder marked private — files that cannot be read without your pattern, not even by us.
Free to leave
Select everything and send it straight back to your photo library, originals and dates intact, in one action. Most vaults let you export one photo at a time, if at all. Leaving is not a feature we charge for.
Nothing leaves your phone
No account to create, no email to hand over, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party code. There is no server for your files to sit on, because there is no server.
Your originals, untouched
No recompression, no resizing, no stripped metadata. The file that comes out is the file that went in, byte for byte.
Everything, not just photos
Photos, videos, PDFs, documents, any file at all — in one grid, with folders, tags, sorting and search. Videos play straight from the encrypted store without ever being written out in the clear.
Several vaults, one at a time
Independent vaults with their own keys, and no visible list of them. What is not open is not announced.
What Latent will never do
Ask for an account or an email address
Send a single byte of your files anywhere
Lock content you already stored behind a paywall
Recompress or resize what you give it
Carry advertising or third-party tracking
If the subscription lapses, reading and exporting keep working. Your files are not collateral.
Questions worth asking
What happens if I forget my pattern?
You use the nine-word recovery phrase shown when you create the vault. Without the pattern and without that phrase, the files cannot be recovered — not by you, and not by us. That is what end-to-end encryption means, and it is the honest answer.
Can I get my files back out?
Yes, all of them, at any time, with no limit and no subscription required. Select and export: photos and videos return to your photo library as ordinary files, with their original dates.
Do the photos stay in the Photos app after I import them?
You choose. Latent can delete the original on import, and it will remind you that iOS keeps deleted items in Recently Deleted for thirty days — a step most vault apps stay quiet about.
Is the code open to inspection?
The encryption design is documented in full and the app is built to be audited by an independent reviewer before release. We would rather be checked than believed.
