What Latent is
Latent is an iPhone app that stores photos, videos, documents and any other file in encrypted vaults, opened with a pattern that is not your iPhone passcode.
Who makes it
Latent is designed and built by an independent developer in France. There is no investor to answer to and no advertising business behind it, which is what makes it possible to promise that your files are never the product.
How it is funded
Latent is free to start. An optional paid plan funds its development. That is the whole business model: no data is sold, because no data is collected.
Why the name
In photography, the latent image is the one already on the film before it is developed: present, and not yet visible. That is what a vault is for.
