Image compressor

Shrink a photo to fit a size limit, and see the exact result before you download it.

Guides for this tool

Two ways to compress

  • Under a size limit: choose a ceiling — 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB or your own — and the tool finds the highest quality that fits.
  • By quality: choose the quality yourself and see the resulting size.

If even the lowest quality is too heavy, the tool also reduces the image’s dimensions, and tells you so.

80–85Quality →↑ File size105080100
File size rises steeply over the last points of quality, where the difference is hardest to see. Around 80 to 85, it is invisible on most photos.

What about PNG?

PNG is lossless, so a quality setting does nothing to it. To make a PNG smaller, the tool converts it to WebP — which keeps transparency — or to JPEG.

Privacy

The image is compressed in your browser and never uploaded. Compressing re-encodes the image, which also removes its metadata — location, device and date.

Keep what is yours, yours.
